Unique back treatmentThe high-end model “Find” series is being developed with the same product name as overseas, but the middle high range and middle range “Reno” series are also available in Japan with products with different model names from overseas. Nonetheless, the latest Japanese model “Reno 5 A” in the Reno series has the same number as the “Reno 5” sold overseas, and the model generation and numbering are unified globally. A new generation model of the Reno has arrived in China. Due to fierce competition among domestic manufacturers in China, the latest models will appear ahead of the global market. Reno’s 6th generation “Reno 6” series was announced in China on May 27, 2021. Three models, “Reno 6”, “Reno 6 Pro” and “Reno 6 Pro +”, are already on sale in China. Its top model, the Reno 6 Pro +, is a model with an enhanced camera. The display is 6.55 inches (1080 x 2400 pixels), the in-camera has a punch hole of 32 million pixels, and the battery is equipped with 4500 mAh. The main body size is 72.5 (width) x 160.8 (height) x 8 (depth) mm. The standard wide-angle camera is equipped with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX 766 sensor. This is the same as OPPO’s top model “Find X3 Pro”. The specs are quite high, but the display size and camera performance are actually the same as the previous model “Reno 5 Pro +” announced in December 2020. The Reno6 Pro + has a Snapdragon 870 processor and is an upgraded version of the Reno5 Pro + Snapdaragon 865. The Reno 6 Pro + is a minor change, but the finish on the back is more luxurious. OPPO is the first to give a finish called Reno Glow on the back of the main body of the “Reno 4” series announced in April 2020. Reno Glow has a diamond-cut surface treatment that maintains its luster and leaves no fingerprint marks on the matte surface even when touched with your fingertips. OPPO says Reno Glow “shines like a million diamonds.” In Reno6 Pro +, it is the 3rd generation “Reno Glow 3”, and the calm color with increased depth gives a sense of luxury. Looking at the side of the main unit, the power key has a green line, which is OPPO’s corporate color. OPPO hasn’t really appealed to this green lately, but it’s still firmly on the power key. The three out-cameras are arranged vertically with the same lens hole size. In addition to 50 million pixels, it is equipped with a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a double-optical telephoto 13-megapixel camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. As with other smartphones, you can resize the camera by tapping the settings at the top right of the screen. The reason why OPPO is easy to use the camera UI (user interface) is that you can switch the highest image quality of 50 million pixels from here. Most general smartphones switch from “Other” camera mode to high image quality. Although the Reno6 Pro + is a minor change model in which the processor has been changed to improve the finish of the main body, when you actually get it, you will feel comfortable with the luxury, and you will get the impression that the operation has become lighter due to the improved performance. OPPO’s model change strategy, which enhances not only performance but also perfection as a “thing,” is steadily increasing the appeal of OPPO’s smartphone itself. I would also like to expect the introduction of Reno Glow-finished smartphones in Japan.
