[See another image about this article]…… At the time of writing this article, 19 days have passed since the state of emergency was lifted in Tokyo and elsewhere. At the small and medium-sized enterprise in Shinjuku where I work, each staff member is currently working remotely to the extent possible. Among them, this time I thought about how to share the screen without permission with Zoom even if you are not the host.[Background]In April 2020, when the state of emergency was announced, the company I work for decided to start working from home without any preparation. Since the work environment was usually “desktop PC + email”, it was a big mess to carry data on an external HDD or divert LINE’s personal account. After that, NAS and notebook PCs will be introduced with subsidies, etc., and the telework environment will be gradually improved ….[Click here for the details from April to the end of August 2020]■ July 5 (Monday): Zoom screen sharing Should I be more free? Video conference with client today on Zoom. While receiving an explanation about a new project, the conversation of the other party stops suddenly. Apparently it was hard to share the resume, and it took me a long time to get into the main subject. Actually, I have the file, so I tried to share the screen, but the function was not available due to the security settings on the host side. This self: “I want to share the screen” Opponent: “Okay, I’ll change the settings” I’ve repeated this exchange many times in the past, but I feel like it’s a waste of time. Unless it is a “site where a stranger shares the screen without permission”, I would like the security to be automatically disabled in the initial state. ■ June 29th (Tuesday): Sharing the browser screen with “OBS Studio” Like when recording a meeting with “Xbox Game Bar” without permission, “Cannot pass host authority using tools” When I was thinking, I remembered the “OBS Studio” that I used when I was doing Babiniku (virtual beautiful girl meat reception) before. “OBS Studio” is a free live streaming software often used by YouTubers and others. Place images, webcam images, window capture images, etc. on the screen and output them as virtual camera images. It can be used for video conferencing as a camera image of Zoom. This time, I decided to create an environment where “webcam image” and “browser screen” can be switched or displayed at the same time. First, start “OBS Studio” and select “Video capture device” and “Window capture” as the source. Specify the webcam and browser to use, respectively. After arranging the sources, turn on the “Virtual Cam” setting. When “OBS-Camera” was selected for the camera on the Zoom setting screen, the browser and camera image placed in “OBS Studio” were displayed on the preview screen. By the way, this time I placed the camera image in a small size at the bottom right of the screen, but you can also switch the source displayed during the video conference with one click. Zoom also has this “display a small camera image on the screen” function, but it was only possible to display the camera image with a PowerPoint file as the background. However, OBS Studio can display camera images as a set in any window, so it seems that you can make a slightly unique presentation. ■ July 8th (Thursday): Brighten the webcam image with “OBS Studio” Now that the source of the image to be delivered with “OBS Studio” has been placed, I decided to try a little more setting for video conferencing. did. Setting the image quality of the webcam is a must when preparing for a video conference. If your face looks dark, you will be fluttering with turning on the correction function and adjusting the light in the room. That’s where the OBS Studio filter comes in handy. This is a function that adds various effects to the video captured as a source. If it is a “video capture device”, you can adjust each parameter such as “gamma”, “brightness”, “saturation”, and “hue” by using a filter called “color correction”. When I participate in a video conference in my room, my face tends to look dark, so this time I moved “gamma” and “brightness” positively to make it brighter, and then made the contrast a little stronger. This setting remains even after restarting OBS Studio, so you can join the meeting immediately without having to mess with the Zoom or Google Meet settings for each video conference. ■ July 9th (Friday): I tried to make the camera image cinematic using LUT. Today, I had a video conference with Zoom from the morning. I immediately tried using “OBS Studio”, and although the camera image is bright, the color tone seems unnatural. After finishing, I tried to play with the parameters of the “color correction” filter again, but it seems that further adjustments will require the help of a professional. So, I added a new “Apply LUT” filter in “Video Capture Device” of “OBS Studio”. This is for correcting each parameter of the video collectively by referring to a file called LUT. Various LUTs such as “cinema style” are provided as files on the net, and some of them can be used for free. Immediately, search the net for a LUT that looks good and download it. When applied from the “Apply LUT” filter, the color of the face and the texture of the skin became beautiful. How much the filter effect is applied can be adjusted by dragging the bar, so the image is corrected so that it does not look unnatural. On top of that, it seems good to use the “color correction” filter to fine-tune the brightness and saturation. By going through “OBS Studio”, it became possible to share the screen with Zoom even if it was not the host, and it was also possible to correct the image. Once you set it up, all you have to do is start “OBS Studio” with Zoom etc., so why not give it a try? * From the editorial department to the introduction of telework to how to enjoy living at home!
