The United States Google announced on July 8 (local time) in a tweet that it has made it possible to use filters and effects in the Android and iOS apps of the web conferencing tool “Google Meet”. The effect is an AR mask such as cat ears that is familiar on Snapchat and Instagram. A feature added to Google’s other web chat app “Duo” in May last year. You can put cat ears, glasses, and a hat on your face, make the whole environment deep sea and let jellyfish drift, or turn the whole head into a dinosaur’s head. You can’t use background blur or wallpaper and mask at the same time because you can only use one effect at a time. Now that Duo has almost no functionality, it’s even harder to understand why Duo exists.
