The Tokyo Olympics, which will start on July 23, will be held in Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa with no spectators. The decision was made through discussions between the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and the national government. The state of emergency was issued only in Tokyo from July 12, but after discussions with the host municipality and the Organizing Committee, one city and three prefectures agreed to hold the event without spectators. In areas where emergency measures have not been taken, specific measures will be decided in consultation with the chief, taking into account the situation in each area. Regarding the Paralympics, the number of spectators will be decided after the Olympics are closed.
