It is the first time in two months since the state of emergency was announced on May 13 (1010) that the number of newly infected people in the Tokyo area exceeded 900. The average number of people infected per day in the Tokyo area over the past seven days was 630, which means that the number of people infected with the new corona has increased significantly in a week. Tokyo, which has a population of about 14 million, classifies it as a state of emergency (explosive spread) if the number of newly infected people exceeds 500 per day. In response, the Japanese government has decided to issue a state of emergency again by the 22nd of next month. The reissue order of the state of emergency will be officially decided at the meeting of the New Corona Countermeasures Headquarters, which is presided over by Prime Minister Suga, after consulting with the expert subcommittee held on the 8th. Currently, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has issued “Priority Measures for Prevention of Spread, etc.” (hereinafter referred to as “Priority Measures”), which is one step lower than the state of emergency, scheduled for the 11th of this month as an epidemic prevention measure for the new corona. If the state of emergency is declared again in the Tokyo area, it will be the fourth time since April last year. If the state of emergency is reissued, the Tokyo Olympics, which will start on the 23rd of this month, could be an unattended tournament. The Government of Japan, the Games Organizing Committee, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government held an Olympic Five-Party Conference with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) on the 21st of last month, within the range of 50% of the capacity per stadium. In addition, we will allow up to 10,000 spectators to enter, if an emergency declaration or priority measures are applied after the 12th of this month. We decided to take measures including holding it as an unattended tournament.
