The National Institutes for Quantum and Radiological Science and Technology (Quantitative Research Institute), which studies radiation science, announced on July 5 that it was the first national research institute to adopt Adobe’s electronic sign service “Adobe Sign.” It is said that contracts with domestic and overseas research institutes will be digitized to improve the work efficiency of staff. Adobe Sign is a function that comes with the company’s PDF editing software “Adobe Acrobat Pro DC”. It can be digitally signed in cooperation with other companies’ document editing software. Quantitative Research Institute cited the fact that it supports a total of 34 languages such as English, German, and French, and that documents can be stored for a long time in PDF with high security reliability. It is said that Quantitative Research Institute has been exchanging confidentiality agreements with outside parties on a paper basis. In addition to the large amount of mailing costs and paper document storage costs, there was also the problem that the person in charge had to go to work in order to proceed with the contract work. In the future, Quantitative Research Institute plans to introduce Adobe Sign for personnel operations and commercial transactions to promote paperless operations and operational efficiency.
